An Appeal to Heaven: John Locke & Judge Samuel Alito

 

Where an appeal to the law, and constituted judges, lies open, but the remedy is denied by a manifest perverting of justice, and a barefaced wresting of the laws to protect or indemnify the violence or injuries of some men, or party of men, there it is hard to imagine any thing but a state of war: for wherever violence is used, and injury done, though by hands appointed to administer justice, it is still violence and injury, however coloured with the name, pretences, or forms of law, the end whereof being to protect and redress the innocent, by an unbiased application of it, to all who are under it; wherever that is not bona fide done, war is made upon the sufferers, who having no appeal on earth to right them, they are left to the only remedy in such cases, an appeal to heaven.

Where there is no judge on earth the appeal lies to God in Heaven. That question then cannot mean who shall judge, whether another hath put himself in a state of war with me, and whether I may, as Jephtha did, appeal to Heaven in it? Of that I myself can only judge in my own conscience, as I will answer it at the great day to the Supreme Judge of all men.

Dissent

My dear Kenyans

Please do not shout us down because some of us after the election still dissent. We are not any less patriotic for thinking otherwise. Do not chastise us for having serious reservations about our president elect. Do not deny us the liberty to shudder at the serious human rights violations charges leveled against our president elect and want answers. After all, not every African leader is walking around with similar charges and for our Nation’s sake, we deserve answers.  We have many other reasons and suspicions and we ask you to please not mistake our dissent for hatred, it is not. Some of us are Christians and know our duty to pray for the leader of our Nation and the content of those prayers may not be “Oh God how thankful we are” but, “Have mercy on us O God that we may lead a peaceable and quiet life in all Godliness”.  And some of us dissent because we do not view a Democratic decision as the equivalent of God’s approval, for we are well aware that many nations before us including Israel have asked for a King and God gave them a King. We also dissent because although we agree that it is God who raises up leaders and puts others down, it is also God who raises up those leaders for good or for evil and we just want to be sure for Democracy does not provide these assurance. Yes we dissent and we are proud to dissent and we are not six, we are a couple million strong. We may not pay homage to the majority, but we keep democracy vibrant dissenting even after the election, for the end of tallying does not signal the end of peaceful dissent… We too are going back to work, doing other things like dissenting and making widgets and building nations and paying homage to God alone who has never been known to be democratic and who may not necessarily shout for joy because the people have spoken. Personally I think the boy from Starehe is pretty smart..he he. Peace!!

Obama, you be kidding me

President Obama's proposed budget:

1. Will Nationalize all income above $250,000
2. Wants to totally Nationalize healthcare
3. Is in the process of Nationalizing our banks
4. Nationalizes student loans
5. Nationalizes sales taxes on energy production
6. 66 Trillion unfunded liability
7. No fiscal responsibility whatsoever on the real entitlement spending
8. No plan to get out of debt systematically
9. Caps discretionary spending at  prior raised levels
10. Unsustainable deficit that is 4-5% of the GDP
11. Public Debt at 80% of the GDP
12. Will devalue our dollar since it is unsustainable and people will not want to buy our debt
13. Raise taxes and force inflation

This is generational theft and a burden being left to our kids that neither we nor they can sustain.

WHAT WILL IT TAKE?

The easiest way to get the American people or any other people uneasy about you is to make them nervous about your ability or intention in keeping them and their families safe: President Obama is waltzing on the edge of disaster.

When Army Major Nidal Malik Hassan, a Muslim of Palestinian descent with Yemeni connections murdered 13 innocent people at Fort Hood Texas, Mr. Obama was quick to warn the American public against "jumping to conclusions" over the motives of the shooter--who gave a jihadist war-cry right before he commenced the shooting.

When Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab straps explosives on his body and makes it to a Detroit bound US plane and attempts to bring the plane down, The President takes three days before charging to reassure the nation inbetween a game of golf and a game of Tennis. The President's hand-hot speech says things like: Abdulmutallab is an "isolated extremist" who "allegedly tried to ignite an explosive device on his body". This "Isolated extremist" too had serious ties to Yemen, his own father warned US bureaucrats somewhere more than once about his son's extremist activities.

One has to be a put on your pre-9-11 spectacles to not be alarmed by the president's complacency when it comes to protecting Americans versus being a backpedaling terror denier. The President's lackadaisical approach to the war on "isolated incidents that should be referred to as anything but "premeditated terror" is not fooling the American public.

Is this naivety or insensibility? Whatever it is, it is stirring in too many people a sure apprehension rather than reassurance from the head of the system that the head of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano says failed before it did not fail.

When children playing by themselves choose a leader, they naturally choose the fiercest, loudest one among them. A spark of spirit in the eyes of a fearless leader causes others to want to follow, a soothing reflection for the most vacant of eyes, a feeling of safety and reassurance. Ever followed someone who did not inspire in you confidence and trust? Someone you were always second guessing? Someone you hope "gets it" this time?

Meanwhile the administration is busy trying to close down Guantanamo Bay detention center and send some of those terrorists back to Yemen to run free in the new Islamic terror haven.

The president is too indulgent in humoring the Islamic terrorist's caprices not from rationale, but from the effects of the anti-George W Bush medicine he's been taking.

Mr. Obama's honeysuckles are yielding and embracing jihadist thorns that stand erect; there are no mutual concessions. It is enough to guard against terrorists who have declared war against you, but what does it take to guard against your president's naivety that is supposed to be guarding you? What will it take to rouse this president to animation against terrorism? another Noble Peace Prize?

NOBEL PEACE PRIZE......DID PEOPLE USE TO EARN THIS THING?

In a flurry of intentions, speeches, hopes, unsuccessful bids for Chicago 2016 and soft-ball press corp interviews all rising in crescendo to the Nobel Peace Prize. Now if we could just figure out how to build the ladder that was supposed to get us up there or perhaps we could just fly down.

1. Where's my Nobel Peace Prize? I am sure I have had some pretty off the wall intentions and I have given a couple of speeches too and I intent to give a whole lot more.
2. Mr. Obama was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize 12 days into his presidency: maybe he should be giving us classes on "how to win a Nobel Peace Prize in 12 days".
   
3. The new and improved Noble Hope Prize.
   
4. Let's hear it for all the armatures just about to be inducted into their 'hall of fame' of choice.
5. If CNN's Anderson Cooper thinks Obama's Peace Prize "was a joke" we really have problems.
6. Anybody whose last name is not "Bush", please send in your nominations: It's okay to nominate yourself.
   
7. You don't give people prizes before they have won them; Let's try this at the Olympics next time.
   
8. Our very own post-racial, post-accomplishment president judged on wishful thinking-Rush-
9. Next week is prizes for the people who intend to write a classical masterpiece.
   
10. Sunday night is prizes for those who intend on finding a cure for AIDS or whatever cure you really believe you will find.
    
11. Israel and Iran want to duke it out; China and Russia are emboldened; Iran's mad-man Ahmedinijad is on a joyride and North Korea's Kim Jong Il is dreaming up more nuke Ills.
    
12. This is so outlandish I have to laugh. I however wish the president well in all his intentions and efforts (how does one go about measuring intended effort?) but I am not betting on it. God save us all and help us all.
13. Oh, and the next guy in line to get this prize better step it waaay down. Let's keep the accomplishments down and step up the intentions and dreams and definitely on the the hope.
    
14. The president gets an award amidst his struggle over whether to expand the war in Afghanistan or not, preparations for a withdrawal of troops from Iraq, seeking the impetus to jump start the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, a way to get the world meaningfully involved in the task of stopping Iran's nuclear ambitions, a declining US dollar, an inordinately wanton increase in the public debt, a quagmire of the thousand page-plus unread health care legislation, pesky town-hollers and plunging poll numbers. The above is truly the stuff of hope and potential and betting, but out there in Oslo, they bet on nothing: they just go right ahead and give it to you!
15. I hope the president uses this unexpected gift of goodwill from whoever is supposed to have symbolically conferred it and rallies NATO, the Security Council and world to real action in defeating Islamic fanaticism in Central Asia and around the world, and a successful carryout to the finish of the eight year war against terror in Afghanistan. When the president chaired the UN Security Council last month, he neglected a golden opportunity to make the lives of the trigger-happy Iranian chief fraternity difficult. I hope he swings this peace pendulum momentum sharply, clearly and decisively and strikes while the iron is hot. Bottle up all this goodwill and give us some tangible, definable hope.
16. So, as the world sees hope in America's crystal ball in the hands of President Obama, and as the Americans at home find it preposterous and SNL it to death, we don't mean ill and it's not just in-auspicious; It's fatigue at the prospect sitting through yet another Obama speech, for the 200th time and listen to some more Nobel Peace Prize laced hopeandchange speech. It takes a lot more than grand oratory to vanquish in-auspiciousness. Action anyone?
