When I Survey The Wondrous Cross

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood...

Lilies!

"In the beauty of the lillies Christ was born across the sea,
with a beauty in his bosom that transfigures you and me.
As he died to make men holy, let us die to make men free,
while God is marching on."

Hair Things

I spent the years of my youth fighting my hair to change it to comply with whatever was in at the time. Sometimes my poor hair was like an invading enemy atop my head that needed to be subdued no matter the high cost in time and money. I was not going to surrender and hesitated not to employ instruments and portions of all sorts to gain the victory. Not so, as a mom. With these girls, the Lord has walked me through repentance, re-education and endless honest conversation to raise girls who seem to love the hair The Lord gave them. Daily we have all three come to see the rich beauty and grace in our hair of a million tiny curls. We speak gently to our hair these days and the instruments of war are all but disappeared. The result has been love, ease, profound gratitude and rest in our locks—mysterious and liberating. As one of the girls takes hers down, I want to weep 😅😬😬 but mostly thank The Lord for girls who love the covering that He chose for us.

Find Your Refuge in God.

There is only one Friend ever meant to be exclusively, exclusive, always and forever.

We do not NEED friends as the world needs them, we are thankful for fellowship and friendships but we can do just fine as long as Christ remains.

Unlike the BFF models in the world, biblical friendship looks outside itself to find its purpose. And like everything else, that purpose should be the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31). Resolve today to be a friend who leaves exclusivity and romance for marriage, who consistently pushes others toward Christ and not yourself, and who finds your refuge in God, not in friends...Read More
