Art Class: Giotto di bondone: Justice and Injustice, 1306

Shakespeare: Othello: Act 5 Scene 1
Iago: He hath a daily beauty in his life That makes me ugly;

Before ever considering the justice of God and how He exercises it, we must well consider that He is a Holy God. What happens when a Holy God meets an unholy people? Indignation happens. A Holy God who is indignant must needs judge. Sodom and Gomorrah and Jesus driving the money changers out of the temple are an example. Isaiah 6

As Anne of Austria once remarked to Cardinal Richelieu: "God does not pay at the end of every day, my Lord Cardinal, but at the end, He pays."

Hymn: Hail Sovereign Love that first began the scheme to rescue fallen man. by Jehoida Brewer
Indignant justice stood in view,
To Sinai’s fiery mount I flew,
But Justice cried with frowning face,
“This mountain is no hiding place!”

Poem: The Hound of Heaven by Francis Thompson
I FLED Him, down the nights and down the days;
  I fled Him, down the arches of the years;
I fled Him, down the labyrinthine ways
    Of my own mind; and in the mist of tears
I hid from Him, and under running laughter.        5
      Up vistaed hopes I sped;
      And shot, precipitated,
Adown Titanic glooms of chasmèd fears,
  From those strong Feet that followed, followed after.
      But with unhurrying chase,       10
      And unperturbèd pace,
Deliberate speed, majestic instancy,
      They beat—and a Voice beat
      More instant than the Feet—
‘All things betray thee, who betrayest Me.’

Bible Study: The Holiness of God: Holiness and Justice examines the meaning of holiness and why people are both fascinated and terrified by a holy God. This series closely explores God’s character, leading to new insights on sin, justice, and grace. The result is a new awareness of our dependence upon God’s mercy and a discovery of the awesomeness of His majestic holiness. R.C. Sproul says, 'The holiness of God affects every aspect of our lives — economics, politics, athletics, romance — everything with which we are involved.'"

Proverbs 28:1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.
